Abstract
Soil around slaughter house is continuously inoculated with aerobic bacteria from rumen of animals. Ruminant microflora, is able to degrade phenolic compounds such as tannins. Soil containing ruminant micro flora near slaughter house is cultured on Bushnell and Hansu0027s medium containing tannic acid. Three bacterial colonies were isolated, cultivated for identification which are then analysed for biochemical characterization and physiological characterization. Furthermore tannase activity and tannin protein degrading activity of each isolate were determined qualitatively.
