Hypersensitivity to Culicoides midges causing seasonal dermatitis in sheep

•Seasonal skin disease affecting 40% of adult sheep was reported from a flock.•The affected sheep showed pruritus, alopecia, hyperkeratosis and lichenification.•Lesions were present on the head, distal limbs and udder.•Histopathological findings were consistent with allergic skin disease.•Hypersensitivity to Culicoides spp. in affected sheep was confirmed by IDAT.
