Impact of Measuring Physicians' Hand Hygiene Adherence in Outpatient Setting Using Automated Hand Hygiene Count Devices

BACKGROUND: Audit and feedback is an essential component to improve hand hygiene practice, however, measuring hand hygiene adherence is not a simple task. There are several methods for measuring hand hygiene performance, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. Our objectives were to evaluate utility of automated hand hygiene count devices in the outpatient department, and impact of feedback of the results on physicians' hand hygiene behavior.
