Ocular complications of carotid artery stenting

Objective To reduce the severe visual loss by analyzing ocular complications of carotid artery stenting.Methods Clinical data were collected from 412 carotid artery stenosis patients who underwent carotid artery stenting.Their ocular complications were analyzed.Results Ocular complications of carotid artery stenting occurred in 3(0.7%)out of the 412 carotid artery stenosis patients,namely ocular ischemia syndrome in 1patient,ischemic optic lesion in 1patient,and retinal branch artery occlusion in 1patient.Conclusion Care should be taken for ocular ischemia syndrome in carotid artery stenting.History taking and ocular examination play an important role in carotid artery stenting.
