Abstract
The fullerene complexes, eta(2)-C-60[Ru(NO)(PPh3)](n), were prepared by the reaction of C-60 with Ru(NO)(2)(PPh3)(z) under a nitrogen atmosphere and refluxing. The new complexes were characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR, XPS, electronic spectra, P-31 NMR and C-13 NMR. The results show that the eta(2) form complexes can be formed by C, bonding to Ru(NO)2(PPh3)2 in the sigma-pi way and there is hyperconjugation effect in the. molecule. So electrons will flow easier and photoelectric properties for the new compounds are expected. In addition, the structures of the complexes were supposed. The ruthenium is 4-coordinated in the complexes, bonding to two carbon atoms, one PPh3 and one NO. The photoelectric effect of the fullerene complexes was also studied. The results show that the photoelectric properties of the fullerene complexes are better than those of pure GaAs electrode, and is related to thickness of the sample film, the media and the number of the bonded organometallic groups.
