Fast license plate location algorithm based on adaptive projection

License plate location is essential in license plate recognition. A algorithm for license plate location based on adaptive signal peaks detection and projection is put forward in view of the shortcoming of general projection method. Firstly, the input image was segmented horizontally by projection. Then vertical projection was used to obtain potential regions with license. In the end, false regions were deleted. Experimental results prove that the algorithm is effective.
