Abstract
OBJECTIVE Medication errors (ME) are defined as any preventable events that may cause or lead to inappropriate medication use or patient harm. ME received national attention in the National Action Plan for Adverse Drug Event Prevention, to drive prevention strategies for high-risk drug classes. ME can occur during steps of the medication process (Fig 1). Through continued research, the incidence of errors and economic consequences can be further elucidated.
