Abstract
Aeromagnetic data were used to map basement features associated with four oil producing counties in parts of the Central Kansas Uplift (CKU) located in west central Kansas. Faults systems associated with the CKU have the potential to create structural hydrocarbon traps and can influence key petrophysical properties (porosity and permeability) of overlying sedimentary layers. In this study, three methods were applied to aeromagnetic data obtained from the Kansas Geological Survey for locating magnetic source bodies. Results show that 3D Euler Deconvolution was the most effective tool for estimating the depth to basement, delineating basement sources and structures.
