Abstract
SIS100, i.e., the core component of the FAIR project, is now heading into the realization phase. While the First of Series SIS100 dipole has already been produced and tested, the main quadrupole magnets are now being designed with the first magnets being built. For these magnets, we report on the first experience of production technology adjustment concentrated on field quality optimization. Along these high-current magnets, the low-current correctors and the special quadrupoles of the injection and extraction modules are made of a Nuclotron cable with insulated strands. This design implies significant different cooling conditions and was first implemented in the chromaticity sextupole. This sextupole was produced last year and was thoroughly tested this year. We report on the status of the various magnets, comment on the optimizations on the first step toward series production, and report on the test results of the first low-current corrector magnet.
