Abstract
Positive Behaviour for Learning School-wide (PB4LSW) is a three tiered response to intervention framework introduced by the Ministry of Education in order to deliver strategies designed to support positive behaviour management in New Zealand schools. This research focused on the sustainable implementation of the PB4LSW programme by identifying factors which supported sustainability at the school-wide level and the level at which these factors were effectively in place. A survey was used to investigate important factors contributing to a sustainable model including prioritisation , school leadership , external leadership , programme effectiveness and efficiency , collection and use of data , and capacity building for staff; and the level to which these factors were present in their schools. Respondents also identified further sustainability factors of communication, consistency, reflection, review , and maintenance as significant for supporting the school wide component of PB4L (PB4LSW). The research highlights what factors can enhance the sustainability of PB4LSW in New Zealand schools.
