摘要
patients dropped out, mainly because of pain within the first two weeks.45 patients completed the study, 22 were capsaicin positive and 23 capsaicin negative.Overall symptom scores were significantly reduced at week three (6.1±4.7;p<0.05) and four (5.6±4.3;p= 0.01) as compared to base line in the run in period (8.2±3.9).Epigastric pain (p=0.02 at week 4), epigastric fullness (p=0.01) and postprandial satiation (p<0.05) were significantly reduced by capsaicin therapy, while nausea and epigastric bloating remained unchanged (NS).Summary: Overall symptom scores were significantly reduced by a four week capsaicin trial, based on a reduction of epigastric pain, fullness and postprandial satiation.A relatively high drop our rate was mainly based on pain induced by capsaicin in the first two weeks of treatment in capsaicin positive patients. Conclusion: Targeting the capsaicin receptor might represent a potential therapy in functional dyspepsia, especially if novel antinociceptive drugs will cause rapid desensitisation or block the receptor to avoid initial sensitization.
