Abstract
•A spectral method based on ultrasonic radiofrequency signal is presented in detail.•High specificity were obtained in density level discrimination.•High robustness of the algorithm with respect to the signal to noise ratio was tested.•Conventional ultrasound can be supported in tissue characterization by this method.
