Are variants in sex hormone metabolizing genes associated with stuttering?

•We sought to replicate the results reported by Mohammadi et al. in Brain and Language 175 (2017) 47–56.•We employed a 9.6-fold larger sample size and two independent methods of genotyping for each sample.•We found no association between the variant rs743572 in the CYP17 gene and stuttering.
