Managing suicidality within specialized care: A randomized controlled trial.

•Suicide prevention is a core task in mental health care services.•Suicide specific treatment models may reduce symptom distress and suicide risk.•After 6 months, CAMS participants reported lower levels of suicidal ideation compared to TAU participants.•CAMS participants reported larger improvements in mental health distress from baseline to both 6-and 12 months follow up.•CAMS and TAU was equally effective in reducing suicidal behaviors.
