Abstract
A new topology of flyback AC-DC rectifier with power factor correction and low total harmonic distortion (THD) in the input current has been proposed in this paper. The proposed flyback rectifier has a single stage AC-DC conversion, combining the rectification process and DC-DC conversion only in one step, resulting in higher efficiency, effective power factor correction and input current harmonic distortion reduction. The system does not have tertiary winding or snubber circuit so it results in reduction of transformer size of the conventional circuit. The proposed design along with power factor corrected feedback circuit has been compared with the conventional designs available in the literatures and the proposed circuit's performance is found more satisfactory in terms of input current THD (%), efficiency (%) and input power factor.
