Abstract
•IDC and IDC + DCIS are two different entities, coexisting ductal carcinoma in situ predicts lower tumor aggressiveness.•Only Grade I and II of invasive component was more frequent in patients with IDC + DCIS than that of IDC.•In patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy, those with IDC + DCIS had lower response than those with IDC alone.•After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, longer disease free survival and overall survival was found when DCIS was present.
