Abstract
A rutile crystal is used to machine a solid immersion lens, boasting a very high refractive index of similar to 10 in the terahertz range. We further show experimentally that a solid immersion microscope using such a lens achieves a record-breaking spatial resolution of 0.06-0.11 wavelength.
