Effect of maternal cottonseed feed on the immune and antioxidant status of Santa Ines lambs.

•Higher antioxidant defense was observed in the first days of lamb’s life, however maternal feeding did not influence this condition;•Maternal feeding did not affect immune and antioxidant status of progeny, indicating no transfer of gossypol to milk secretions;•The alternative in ruminants feeding with cottonseed can be used without maternal-descendant effects to immunity and oxidative stress in lambs.
