Abstract
Interleaving (ILV) operation is often used for parallel-connected voltage source converters (VSC) since it provides a better harmonic spectrum which enables a smaller filter realization. To investigate the performance limitations and the impact of ILV operation on the LCL filter, a comprehensive LCL filter and intercell transformer (ICT) optimization procedures for two-interleaved VSCs is presented in this paper. In addition, a comparison with hard paralleled (HP) operation of VSCs is performed. To verify the design procedure, 260-kW prototype system was built.
