摘要
•Renal function overestimation occurs frequently in patients with liver cirrhosis when using serum creatinine.•Decreased muscle mass impacts on overestimation of kidney function especially in male patients with cirrhosis.•Compared to creatinine, cystatin C correlated better with mGFR and had a higher predictive ability for clinical outcomes.•Cystatin C might be a promising marker to accurately assess renal function in cirrhotic patients.
