Coatings on the stainless steel heated up to various temperatures within the range of 400-800degreesC are prepared using high-speed electron beam evaporation of ingots of Al62.5Cu25Fe12.5 alloy. The coating-structure study shows that the coating with icosahedral structure formed during vapour condensation at substrate temperature above 520degreesC at the condensation-rate range of 8-200 nm/s. A deviation of the chemical composition from the optimal one results in reducing of the volume fraction of quasi-crystalline component.
