Delusion, excitement, violence, and suicide history are risk factors for aggressive behavior in general inpatients with serious mental illnesses: A multicenter study in China.

•High rates of inpatients diagnosed as schizophrenia have aggressive behavior during hospitalization.•Violent history, suicide history, current delusions and excitement are risk factors for aggression among general psychiatric inpatients with serious mental illnesses.•Both historical and dynamic factors are related to aggressive behavior for inpatients with serious mental illness.
