Progression of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis is associated with up-regulation of major sodium transporters in the mouse kidney cortex under a normal salt diet.

•The kidney cortex is a primary site for regulation of Na balance.•Progression of EAE is associated with up-regulation of the major Na transporters in the region.•The effect is accompanied by increase in the protein levels of the up-stream regulators.•The effect suggests that EAE progression increases Na absorption.
