摘要
•Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) are thought to reflect an amplifier function of cochlear outer hair cells.•DPOAEs in geriatric and young adult cats were compared to determine frequency-specific age-related changes in responses.•No differences in DPOAE amplitudes were observed in geriatric cats compared to control cats.•There was no correlation between DPOAE amplitude and age of cat.•Age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) may be delayed or absent in cats compared to dogs and human beings.
