Mode of delivery among Swedish midwives and obstetricians and their attitudes towards caesarean section.

•Swedish midwives and obstetricians born in 1955 and 1975 do not have a higher rate of caesarean section in their first birth compared to the population in general.•Midwives born in 1975 have a significantly lower rate of instrumental deliveries compared to the population.•In this study the two professions have similar opinions and attitudes towards caesarean section.
