Comparative expression and regulation of duplicated fibroblast growth factor 1 genes in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella).

•The duplicated fibroblast growth factor 1 genes were cloned from grass carp.•Duplicated fgf1s have a relatively low sequence identity of 50%.•The fgf1s were widely, differentially expressed in adult tissues and embryos.•Treatment with hGH, starvation and refeeding altered fgf1a and -1b expression.•Two fgf1s may play important, diverse roles in grass carp development.
