Comparison of 1869 thyroid ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsies between general surgeons and interventional radiologists.

•Thyroid nodules are commonly encountered problems in clinical practice.•FNAB is the most reliable diagnosis method for distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid nodules.•The non-diagnostic rates may decrease with the increase of experience in administering USG-guided thyroid biopsies.
