Abstract
•Dropped head syndrome (DHS) may occur after cervical laminoplasty.•The average preoperative C2–C7 angle and C7–T1 angle was significantly smaller in the DHS group compared with the control group.•The average preoperative center of gravity head–C7 sagittal vertical axis was significantly larger in the DHS group.•Patients with preoperative kyphosis and cervical sagittal imbalance are more likely to develop DHS following laminoplasty.
