Differential responses of the somatotropic and thyroid axes to environmental temperature changes in the green iguana.
General and Comparative Endocrinology(2016)
Abstract
•Somatotropic and thyroid axes show important changes in response to cold exposure in iguana.•GH and IGF-I expression and release increase mainly after chronic cold exposure.•TRH and PACAP are involved in GH response after acute and chronic cold exposure, respectively.•TRH induces GH secretion in iguana.•Thyroid axis shows a diminished activity in response to cold exposure.
