Abstract
Background: More than half of medical school graduates in Europe, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand are women. However, in cardiology there is significant gender disparity, with 20% of cardiology trainees and 4.5% of interventional cardiologists in the USA being female. Data describing the gender gap in interventional cardiology internationally is limited, and in Australia and New Zealand it has not been previously reported.
