Abstract
•Cervical cancer mortality rates in Lithuania declined since 2002.•Positive changes in cervical cancer mortality started in cohorts born after 1972–1976.•Mortality decline was less pronounced in 50 years and older women.•Despite downward trends, mortality remained relatively high after over a decade of screening programme implementation.•Effective, organised, population-based cervical cancer screening programme and adequate surveillance system remain warranted.
