Complications after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: can we approach a 0% rate using the largest staple height with reinforcement all along the staple line? Short-term results and technical considerations.

•Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG) represents the most performed bariatric intervention in France.•The morbidity and mortality rates after SG have substantially decreased, which allowed this procedure to be widely adopted. Many factors contributed to this decrease. It remains to know if we can we go toward a 0 % rate%.•We present our series of 434 consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy. All the interventions were performed using black cartridges and staple line reinforcement using bioabsorbable Seamguard®(W.L. Gore & Associates, Elkton, MD). We discuss the technical considerations and the surgical approach resulting in a low complication rate.
