Molecular imprinted S-nitrosothiols nanoparticles for nitric oxide control release as cancer target chemotherapy.

•Chemotherapy based on nitric oxide (NO)-releasing was described.•Through molecular imprinting with cancer cells achieved targeting NO-releasing.•In vitro and in vivo investigation confirmed the effective chemotherapy.•NO based chemotherapy avoided side effects of traditional chemotherapy.
