•We developed a tool that predicts the abundance of adult sea lice over an 8-week period on isolated Chilean salmon farms.•Our tool may be useful for farms that are infected primarily by sea lice from their own fish.•On isolated farms our tool may be helpful to determine the timing of sea lice treatments.
