Prognostic value of plasma brain natriuretic peptide value for patientswith sepsis: A meta-analysis

•Plasma BNP and NT-proBNP were used to predict the mortality for septic patients.•The current results of BNP and NT-proBNP for the predictive value remain controversial.•3417 septic patients were selected for the large meta-analysis.•Both BNP and NT-proBNP have moderate predicts value for the mortality of septic patients.•The tested method of BNP and NT-proBNP observation endpoint influence the results of BNP.
