Abstract
•NFPAs are common benign pituitary tumors that lack clinical or biochemical evidence of pituitary hormones excess.•The best management for residual NFPA after surgical treatment is not defined.•There were sex differences in the frequency of NHAs and SGAs, but this was not a risk factor for recurrence.•SCA is the NFPA subtype with a greater risk of tumoral recurrence.•Giant pituitary adenomas are frequent among NFPAs without NFPA subtype preponderance.
