•The abnormal precipitates of calcium carbonate covered the surface of the nacre in 10ASW.•2D-PAGE analyses revealed that protein amounts of Pf-filamin A and Pf-SCP increased in 10ASW.•The expression levels of organic matrices in the shells did not change in 10ASW.•The different mechanisms control calcium transport and synthesis of organic frameworks.
