Morphological, genetic and biological characterisation of a novel Alphabaculovirus isolated from Cryptophlebia peltastica (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae).

•A novel alphabaculovirus infecting Cryptophlebia peltastica was isolated and characterised.•CrpeNPV clusters with the group 2 alphabaculoviruses EpgrNPV, AdhoNPV and AdorNPV.•The complete genome was sequenced at 115728 bp and 126 open reading frames identified.•The lethal concentration for 50% mortality was 6.46 × 103 OBs/ml.•The lethal time for 50% mortality was 76.32 h.
