•The “only IL-22” producing (Th22) cells were gradually increased in normal, paratumor and tumor tissues of TNBC patients.•IL-22 promotes TNBC cells (MDA-MB 231 and MDA-MB 468) migration and induces paclitaxel resistance.•IL-22 induces TNBC cells migration and paclitaxel resistance through JAK-STAT3/MAKPs/AKT signaling pathways.
