Derivation of phenotypically diverse neural culture from hESC by combining adherent and dissociation methods

•Provides a novel, effective and robust neural culture system for the generation of clinically relevant, mixed yet neurochemically mature human neurons from hESCs.•These neurons showed structural maturity as well as neurochemical specificity with highly expressed molecular markers.•Suitable for studying a range of neurological diseases from a human perspective.
