摘要

•AgI nanowires are grown within tubular structures of an amphiphilic cyanine dye.•The iodine is a remnant from dye synthesis and Ag was added as nitrate salt.•Structure and chemical composition of single crystalline nanowires could be resolved.•The crystalline AgI nanowires are strictly oriented with respect to the tubular axis.
