摘要

•Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) identifies women at high risk for future diabetes.•HbA1c levels lower than the diagnostic threshold predicts diabetes after GDM.•In GDM women, an HbA1c of 6.2% is a sensitive predictor of early postpartum diabetes.•We report on two useful antepartum time-points for HbA1c assessment.•There is a big need to improve postpartum surveillance after GDM.
