Reduction of pesticide residues from tomatoes by low intensity electrical current and ultrasound applications

•The effects of electrosonication treatments on pesticide residues on tomatoes were studied.•Captan, thiamethoxam and metalaxyl were selected as target pesticides due to higher usage.•Low intensity electrical current, ultrasonic bath and ultrasonic probe were tested.•Synergistic effects of ultrasound on electrical current treatment were also evaluated.•Captan, thiamethoxam and metalaxyl were degraded in the order of 94.24, 69.80 and 95.06%.
