Rates, causes, risk factors, and outcomes of readmission following deep brain stimulation for movement disorders: Analysis of the U.S. Nationwide Readmissions Database.

•National rate of unplanned readmission following DBS is 1.9% within 30 days and 4.3% within 90 days.•DBS related etiologies, although rare, included perioperative hematoma and stroke.•Risk factors for readmission are not inherently unique to DBS and include older age, CAD, obesity, and history of stroke.
