•Conjugate pad was immobilized with dual AuNP-DNA probes.•Dual AuNP-DNA probes enhanced sensitivity of strip biosensor for Pb2+ detection.•GO was primarily introduced to eliminate false positive.•The strip biosensor enables visual detection of Pb2+ within 15 min.•The Pb2+ strip biosensor had 0.05 nM LOD and a linear range from 0.01 to 100 μM.
