Abstract
•In this study, we successfully established a piglet tissue cage model infected with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.•Cefquinome exhibits excellent antibacterial effect and time-dependent trait against A. pleuropneumoniae.•%T > MIC was the PK/PD index that best correlated with the antibacterial effect (R2 = 0.967) compared to other indices.•The values of %T > MIC for 1/3, 2/3, and 1-log10 (CFU/mL) reduction were 11.59, 27.49, and 59.81%, respectively.
