Sugar metabolism in the desiccation tolerant grass Oropetium thomaeum in response to environmental stresses.

•Fifteen sugar metabolites are identified and analyzed in O. thomaeum under dehydration and other environmental stresses.•Sugar metabolism under dehydration has similarity with those under other stresses, e.g. low temperature and salt stress.•Stress-specific sugar metabolism occurs in O. thomaeum, reflecting stress specific responses.
