Abstract
•Novel A2A receptor antagonist IDPU has attenuated the 6-OHDA induced neurotoxicity in rats.•IDPU strongly modulated oxidative stress markers which are indicative of its neuroprotection capability.•IDPU significantly increased the level of dopamine and decreased the levels of glutamate and calcium thus reducing excitotoxicity.
