Evolution of Trichobaris (Curculionidae) in relation to host plants: Geometric morphometrics, phylogeny and phylogeography.

•The first molecular phylogeny of the genus Trichobaris (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is herein constructed.•Genetic data are generated for two mitochondrial and two nuclear markers.•The evolution of weevil’s rostrum is related to the host plant part used (e.g., stems or fruits) to oviposit.•The haplotype phylogeny suggests a recent emergence of species through interaction with their host plants.
