The effect of tranexamic acid in unilateral and bilateral total knee arthroplasty in the South Asian population: A retrospective cohort study.

•Tranexamic acid decreases intraoperative blood loss but not the need for postoperative blood transfusions in South Asians.•Patients who received intraoperative tranexamic acid had a longer hospital stay than patients who did not.•More patients among those who received tranexamic acid required special care monitoring than those who did not.
